Too friendly critters

Sharing is caring!

It’s that time year when the outside critters get too friendly. The bears have been bad, but it was a rough winter for those animals that didn’t hibernate like our deer. They are very skinny and otherwise show the stress of this past winter. We have one group of deer with a huge buck and seven does and another smaller group of five. This morning one of our cats was watching something on our deck and it is most often birds. Typically it’s either Juncos or Black-capped Chickadees on the deck. We weren’t paying much attention and watching the news on television. Our interest is being held because of the fire that had occurred at Notre Dame in Paris. When I stood up and turned around, there was a deer with its butt pressed up against the deck door. It had obviously climbed up the steps to the deck and was looking for something to eat. When we asked it to leave, it took one step and make a graceful jump over the railing and all the way to the ground and ran all about 5 feet. It then turned around and looked at us. I think it was annoyed that we had startled it. Critters may not be able to talk, but they can sure express their feelings in other ways.

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
