I know everyone doesn’t have the time to read all through this blog, so a bit of history is necessary for this post to make sense. The Veterans Administration, the VA, has been trying to repair by back from an injury suffered in the military. I have had four operations and spent a total of 46 hours on the operating table. For bureaucratic reasons, the VA had me go to an outside examiner yesterday. One of the things this doctor did was to measure the length of each scar on my back. There was one exception to that because they “harvested” one of my ribs to help rebuild a vertebra. The length of to that scar was approximately 12 inches long and is on my left side. Altogether, the scars total length was approximately 6 feet! They are clearly visible, but because they’re on my back, I’ve never seen all of them. It was a day of discovery for me. I learned something about myself that I didn’t know.
