I won’t bore you with a report about our ridiculously cold weather. However, it did remind me of the day in the winter of 1958. That was the year we moved to Canada, but that winter I was still living in Bloomington Minnesota. I remember it had snowed the day before because before I went to school I had to go out and shovel the driveway that had blown closed overnight. I can’t tell you exactly what the temperature was, but it was well below zero and in those days no one had heard of windchill. As I was getting ready to walk to my school bus stop, the radio was playing 26 Miles by The Four Preps. It is available on YouTube here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzIav6m2VbA The song is about going to a nice warm island off the coast of California called Santa Catalina. I think I remember that morning because the song made me think about how much I hated to go out in the cold and wind just to go to school when I could be out skiing.
