Since my last post was about love, I think I should address my feelings about writing about physical intimacy, sex, in telling a story. It’s an important aspect of life. The short unsatisfactory answer is unless I am writing erotica there is no need for detailed descriptions of sex. Let me explain why I think it’s an unsatisfactory answer. In the current novel, it has reached the point where the two main characters already have two children together. I have been thinking of ways of showing even though they have heavy demands on their time and two children to take care of, they are still very much in love and need and crave each other’s physical intimacy. One of the key things to show would be to find a means to illustrate they are in the moment when engaged in intimacy; i.e., they aren’t worried about the events of the day, they aren’t thinking about tomorrow, they aren’t fantasizing about another person, and so on. Another way of saying that in a term I hear these days is,they are “present.” I haven’t found a way to solve the problem yet.
Another reason I might want to use a detailed description of sex in a story would be to illustrate a perversion of one of the two people engaged in sex. A perversion can profoundly influence the flow of story. If I can find another way to demonstrate that perversion, I will; i.e., in the current novel there is a rape very early in it, and I do not detail it. The important thing for the novel is the consequences of that rape.
Lastly, there could be other reasons for detailing physical intimacy and one example might be someone who had been sexually abused being fearful and not being able to fully engage in physical intimacy. I’m sure you can see how that would influence the flow of the story.
I think you can see why generally I do not go into detail about a sexual encounter. Basically, I feel it’s not necessary. However – grin– I’m still trying to solve the puzzle in the novel I am writing to show the love between the two major characters using the idea of “present.” If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

WordPress has added a new editor that has some bugs in it. One that is driving me crazy and you may pick it up when reading these posts is it randomly runs words together.
I will keep an eye out for the randomly runs words together.
With havin so much written content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement?
My blog has a lot of unique content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it seems a
lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any techniques to help reduce content from being
stolen? I’d certainly appreciate it.
I can’t imagine anyone trying to take content from this blog. I also have a website and I’ve never seen anything taken from it. I’m afraid I don’t have enough legal knowledge to know how to answer your question. I’m sure a lawyer could quickly tell you what to do or what you could do.

In the past WordPress was weak on security, but they have improved and so have the plug-ins. I have lost sites in the past, but it hasn’t happened now and I do have a plug-in that allows me to just reload the site if it ever happens. I have also blogged from just a regular website, but all the HTML programming drove me crazy.
Excellent site you’ve got here.. It’s hard to find excellent writing like yours nowadays.
