Is the Supreme Court the best court money can buy?

Sharing is caring!

With the current court case considering the abortion drug, I saw this headline online, “The best court money can buy.” I wondered about that headline as the article was rather extreme in its point of view. We know that President Trump chose Supreme Court candidates from a list provided by The Federalist Society. The Federalist Society comprises lawyers, legal scholars, and other professionals in the United States that advocate for a textualist and originalist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. The group was founded in 1982 and has since grown to become one of the most influential organizations in American legal and political circles. The last two sentences were rewritten from online searches. They contained the phrase “a textualist and originalist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution.”

A textualist is a person who interprets legal texts, including the U.S. Constitution and laws, based on their plain and ordinary meaning. Textualists believe that the words of legal texts should be understood according to their original purpose at the time they were written. Okay, let’s look at how an originalist is defined as. “Originalists believe that the words and intentions of the authors of the Constitution should guide its interpretation, rather than relying on modern interpretations or changing social norms.” Suppose a conservative is defined as someone who does not like change. In that case, both those terms are enjoyed by the conservatives in the United States.

The last three justices that Trump appointed, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh, and Brett Kavanaugh, were all suggested by the Federalist Society. I fail to see any monetary connection between these three justices. However, all three lied in the Senate hearings on their nominations. They all said that Roe vs. Wade was “settled law.” Settled law implies that it has been interpreted until nothing is left to question. However, all three could not vote quick enough on Roe vs. Wade as soon as it was presented to strike down that ruling. I guess it wasn’t “settled law.”

It isn’t the first time a nominee for this agreement court has lied. Do you remember Anita Hill? Justice Thomas lied about her. It shouldn’t be any surprise that Justice Thomas has taken a great deal of money for the cost of his and his wife’s vacations with a conservative billionaire. His wife has been very active politically. She believed that President Trump’s loss to President Biden was a stolen election. It makes you wonder about her influence on her husband.

Okay, back to “The best court money can buy,” and does it stand? I am not sure about that point, but I am sure that we have many liars on the court.
