I’ve been thinking about Jackson and his story. I guess I just can’t help but because I’m a writer. I thought the story would be much more enjoyable with two damaged people. When Jackson arrives in his hometown, he meets a girl who used to be part of the group he hung around with. They reminisced about their high school days when they first meet at the local grocery store. Later, Jackson finds out that she divorced the fellow she was always with in high school because he physically abused her. It made me think that ChatGPT might offer some suggestions about her behavior. I typed this into https://chat.openai.com/ — “What symptoms might a divorced woman have because her ex-husband physically abused her?” Below is what I got back.
“It is important to note that every individual’s experience is unique, and they may exhibit different symptoms depending on a variety of factors such as the duration and severity of abuse, the individual’s coping mechanisms, and their support system.
However, here are some common symptoms that a divorced woman may experience due to physical abuse by her ex-husband:
- Physical symptoms: Physical abuse can cause a range of physical symptoms such as chronic pain, headaches, muscle tension, digestive problems, fatigue, and sleep disturbances.
- Emotional symptoms: The emotional impact of physical abuse can be severe and long-lasting. Divorced women who have experienced physical abuse may feel anxious, depressed, helpless, hopeless, and emotionally numb. They may have a low self-esteem, difficulty trusting others, and struggle with feelings of shame and guilt.
- Behavioral symptoms: Divorced women who have been physically abused by their ex-husband may engage in behaviors that serve as coping mechanisms, such as avoidance, withdrawal, substance abuse, and self-harm. They may also struggle with forming new relationships and may isolate themselves from friends and family.
- Cognitive symptoms: Physical abuse can also affect an individual’s cognitive functioning. Divorced women who have experienced physical abuse may struggle with concentration and memory, and may have difficulty making decisions.
There are many things in that reply to mine for a story. It quickly came to me that her ex-husband knew Jackson back in high school and might object to Jackson dating his ex-wife. That led to thoughts there might be a physical altercation between Jackson and the ex-husband. Jackson’s military training kicks in, and he easily defeats her ex-husband.
Do you see how the prompts from using a Chatbot help you create a story and how given new information, your mind builds on the story? For example, Jackson’s military experience makes it easy for him to defeat her ex-husband. Oh, I just thought that her ex-husband might try to take revenge for his defeat by Jackson. See how the story builds? The chatbot I used is free but can be very busy and slow. However, it allows you to play with a chatbot and see if you want to subscribe to it or another chatbot.
