If you’d like to hear some good news, try this website, https://nicenews.com. I had no idea it existed before I read this morning’s email. It was nice to read some news where people were not calling each other nasty names or threatening to kill someone who didn’t agree with them.

I found this an interesting question, “How can I tell if I am good enough at nonfiction writing to sell some?” You might think what kind of grades you got for writing in English classes would be a good indication. I don’t think it’s a good indicator. I have taught many first-year English classes at three different universities. You can be an excellent writer and still not get a passing grade. In college writing, you must document where you got your material. There are at least three different methods used by colleges. You may be asked in college to write using different methods in different classes. MLA, APA, and CMS are the three most common methods of documenting your work. It does not matter what grade you might receive. It is often nothing more than your instructors you are MLA, APA, and CMS.

Have you ever described a trip you really enjoyed via email or even by snail mail? Has anyone ever common on that email saying things like, “I could see those mountains,” or “I could paste at prime rib.” There are other variations such as, “You mentioned the Mountain Meadows and the animals grazing there.” Although the show that people enjoyed what you had written and were even looking for more.

Don’t overlook your replies to a trip. If they are interested enough to ask you for more, you know you help their attention. Look for key phrases such as, “tell me more about…”,“ The desert sounded delicious,” or “if I wanted to book a trip… who or what do you suggest?”

I hate to use this phrase, but it is “common sense” is your best guide. Start by describing a meal you had at a local restaurant. See what response you get. Or better describe a day trip to some historical place. The ideas are boundless. Once you start, you will soon echo that idea. Do it!

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
