Words have power

Words have power

Sharing is caring!

As a writer, I know words have power. They can make people laugh, cry, anger, and so on. Politicians do not seem to have learned that fact as their ads have now provoked someone to attempt to kill or harm what I assume are people on the other side of the political divide from them. Words that contain emotion from love to hate as examples can subtly change and sometimes even grossly change our worldview. A sentence about a child’s love for a puppy can make us feel good and warm. A sentence about a hate being so great that a person wants to kill another in the most brutal way possible can make us cringe and turn away. Arousing emotion in people is dangerous because you may not even be able to guess the consequences. I’m sure no politician on either side thought someone would send bombs to their opponents. Politicians – watch your use of emotionally laden words. The rest of us – try to recognize when the politicians are attempting to provoke your emotions. Comments?

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
