A quote from an old Ukrainian woman I saw on a new show and as it was translated, “Old men are dangerous because they start wars that kill young men.” I think it’s true. It’s older men that run countries. Think of our presidents and then think about most of our legislators. They are mostly old men.

Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was born on October 7, 1952. He will be 70 this year. He’s definitely an older man. He’s also a dictator. Dictators also tend to be isolated. People around them are fearful of telling them anything that could be construed as “bad news.” Thus all they hear is praise for them and how good things are going. Putin is trying to put back together the old Soviet Union that disappeared in the 20th century. He also made it clear that you would use nuclear weapons if we interfered with his takeover of Ukraine. Threatening nuclear war is crazy because no one would win, but much of the world would be destroyed. I’m sure Putin knows that, but… The space after “but” indicates we don’t know if he’s crazy enough to actually crazy enough to use nuclear weapons. If he tries to reconstitute the old Soviet Union, his next move would be against a NATO country. That means we would have to get involved in that might be the end of everything. What’s the solution? I have absolutely no idea. Dictators do crazy things like starting a war.
