Typhoid Mary

My question about Covid 19 and a murder or manslaughter charge seems to have stirred up some controversy. I thought it would. Let me ask you a question? Do you know the story of Typhoid Mary? She carried the Typhoid Fever bacteria but showed no signs of the disease. She came from Ireland and worked as a cook in the greater New York City area. She cooked for families, and soon everyone in the household was sick with Typhoid Fever. Typhoid Fever is a killer. All of my paternal grandfather’s adult family was killed by Typhoid Fever. It took a while for the authorities to figure out she was the carrier of the disease. She was first quarantined in 1907 and spent three years in isolation. She was released when she promised not to cook in 1910. However, it was the only skill she had, so she was soon back cooking for families. She was discovered cooking again and quarantined to a small island until she died 23 years later.

All this happened over 100 years ago. They didn’t have antibiotics or any means to eliminate the bacteria from Typhoid Mary. The only thing they knew to prevent further deaths was to lock her up on an island. Today we are faced with another disease caused by a virus. The only thing we know that’s effective against the virus is a preventative measure, a vaccine. We know that people who have taken the vaccine and who become ill can’t spread Covid 19. Once again, we are faced with a killer disease. Everyone who refuses to be vaccinated is a modern-day Typhoid Mary. Perhaps, we should isolate all nonvaccinated people to prevent further deaths. What do you think?

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
