I tend to agree with the two following statements – happiness is a state of mind and depression is a state of mind. What brought that on? It was a piece of junk email. I sat there staring at the email, feeling both statements were correct but wondering how the two ideas could be accurate at the same time. Happiness and depression are opposites. They are contradictory. Wait, we have many contradictions in daily life. The contradictions can be fundamental such as I am thirsty or I am not thirsty. The contradictions can be so abstract as to require many words to explain. For example, I am a member of political party A or not a member of political party A.

Some statements make no sense now and will never make sense. I was sitting in the middle of the sun. This blog is beginning to sound like some of the philosophy courses I took in college, just playing with words. It’s much more than that. We have choices. If I’m thirsty, I get a drink of something, or if I’m depressed, I can get help. As in the piece of junk mail, advertising makes it seem as if we have no choices other than what they offer. There is nothing we can do unless we buy their product or service. That is clever advertising. Don’t fall for it. When they had present you with just two choices, stop and think. I am sure you will find there are other solutions to the problem. Also, probably a lot less costly.

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
