I listened to a discussion by some of my friends who are staunch Republicans. I don’t remember when the Census Bureau issued a projection that whites would be a minority in the United States in 2045, but the discussion was all about that projection. More specifically, about the changes that will happen as whites become a minority. There is one word that defines the future as they see it in 2045 and beyond – fear. The primary fear is they will lose control of the country. All of the things they have been fighting against will become true. One commented, “The pot smokers will ensure that abortions will become easy to get and free.” What they are saying, from their viewpoint, is a morality will no longer be necessary.
That viewpoint is dangerous – for everyone. For example, what happened on January 6 of this year becomes justifiable if not a necessity. Someone said in the discussion yesterday that we wouldn’t be having all the troubles at the southern border had January 6 succeeded!? In fear, all actions are justifiable. As I already said, that is “dangerous.” I don’t know if we have gone too far yet. I hope not. What do you think? What should we do?
