Okay, I agree that I did not answer the question I posed yesterday – what is love? I think it’s just too complex for an easy answer. Yesterday I talked about stages. I could’ve easily talked about the love you have for a pet. Obviously, that’s different than the love you would have for a person. Likewise, the love you have within your family, such as for brothers and sisters or your parents, takes a different form. I could go on and on and still not answer yesterday’s question.
Why are romance novels so popular? There are also many types of romance novels ranging from romantic comedy to bodice rippers. These novels are designed by publishers for women. I’ve often wondered why men don’t read them. I have a friend who writes romance novels. She says there’s nothing in them for men but represents everything that women want. Intellectually, it makes sense to me. What are romance novels all about – love! Once again, we see that it takes a wide variety of romance novels to satisfy the female audience. I would think the readers of each type of romance novel find their own desires fulfilled with it them. That again points out the many different aspects of love.
Is it impossible to define love? What do you think?
