Can you be cruel and loving at the same time?

Sharing is caring!

Leave your friends behind seems to be cruel. In some ways, it is. However, there are practical reasons. Let’s say you are working in a purchasing department. You are single. You have been dating another person in the purchasing department. Suddenly, you are that person’s boss. It could easily be said that your power over that person as their boss has been used for nefarious purposes. You can easily see the case could be made that you are demanding sexual favors because you’re their boss.

What do you do? Three possibilities come to mind. You could end the relationship. You could refuse the promotion. You could risk breaking the company’s rules and keep the relationship going. Which would you choose? Remember, you love this person. You can see why the company would have a no fraternizing rule. Actually, there is a fourth possibility. You can quit the company that just promoted you so that you can continue your relationship.

The question remains – what would you do? Why? These are two critical questions. They influence both your work life and your private life. Tell us what you would do?

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
