After my posts of two songs by Morissette Amon and my comments on them, I was asked if I was a voice teacher because of the two terms I used. No, I am not. When I was young, I discovered that there was a live broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera every Saturday on the radio. I didn’t understand how some of the singers could do certain things and read everything I could on singing techniques. That is where I learned the two terms I used, chest voice and whistle tone. The song’s first whistle tone is done at the end of a long run and done effortlessly. Even more important, she is sitting down and doing that song. It is much harder to be sitting and singing than standing and singing.
On another topic from yesterday, my discussion about love and hate brought some negative comments about the China Virus. Yes, that is the term our former president used. The proper name is Covid 19. There were also some comments about other groups not being like us. I took that to mean white. In the first paragraph, I discussed songs by Morissette. She is a beautiful young lady. She is from the Philippines and has the physical characteristics of someone who isn’t Caucasian. I think most of us would agree with my characterization of her as beautiful.
