Bear poo

Yesterday, my wife found a pile of bear poo in our front yard. It confirms that the bears are out of hibernation here. We didn’t have a very snowy winter, so their dens weren’t covered in deep snow. Bear poo looks a lot like human poo. It tends to look blacker and chunkier than human’s. I guess they have a high-fiber diet.

I don’t understand what happened in Boulder, Colorado, yesterday. I grew up around guns, rifles and shotguns. They were treated as tools. Much like a fishing rod was treated as a tool. Both provided sources of protein, meat for the family. There were hunting seasons just as there are today, but some things were delicious eating that had no season. My favorite was Whistle Pigs, groundhogs. They are vegetarian and of a good size to provide a great mulligans stew. They were a nice change from the fish in the middle of summer.

I don’t remember people going crazy and shooting other people. If it happened at all, it was likely an angry husband or two neighbors feuding. Of course, it was still possible to go to the hardware store and buy dynamite. Is it just the fact that we have more people and, therefore, more crazy people? My guess is if you could still buy dynamite at the local hardware store, we would have crazy people blowing up things. My guess is we would also have an NDA, National Dynamite Association, and not just an NRA. What do you think?
