Narcissism

Narcissism

Sharing is caring!

On December 8 of this year, I posted a blog about a possible opening for a novel. I got no response to that post publicly. I did finally get some private emails. I decided to set that project aside for now. I wanted to be fair to my readers and let them know the man I was writing about has a significant character defect. He is a narcissist. He does not recognize that defect, and he destroys people around him emotionally. I spent time a great deal of time researching narcissism and filled a small notebook with notes from that research.

A narcissist can be very charming at first, and they may be surrounded by people who will enable them. The odds are good if you or I met them, we would think of them as good people. That’s what makes them dangerous. They are master manipulators. They will quickly find any weakness or insecurity you have and use it to control you.

I wanted to show my readers how dangerous a narcissist can be. Hopefully, they would quickly see through a narcissist and easily escape. Or they might see someone they know already and recognize that person is a narcissist. It might explain some of their feelings towards that person. We are not mental health professionals, but we need to protect ourselves and recognize the character defect of narcissism. It will save us a lot of heartbreak or worse.

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
