The political season is in full swing. I am a bit puzzled because all of the ads I’ve seen so far use the same basic idea – vote for the other party, and your world is going to end. To be fair, there are usually some political ads like this in every election. What I am seeing is a preponderance of ads meant to scare the britches off you. I have yet to see an ad that says, “I have a plan that will make your life better.”

I have begun to wonder if all this negativity hasn’t come because of the ongoing pandemic. The latest figures I’ve seen on deaths due to COVID-19 are over half a million people have died in the world. That’s a huge number! The pandemic is destroying our economy. Our lives have been changed in ways that none of us like. I’m wondering why the politicians haven’t said something like, “I have a plan to deal with the pandemic. Here are the things I plan to do.” Instead, both parties are saying that if you vote for the other party, your world is going to end! We need hope – not fear!
