“Why don’t my answers or questions to your blog up appear right away?” I have to approve every reply to a blog. It necessary because people want to increase traffic to their website, be it a blog or a place selling something. One way search engines work is to look at the number of references to a website address from other sites. A comment on a blog with a website address included is a great way to increase traffic. This morning I had 55 pieces of spam. They came from just two different addresses. They all added a short comment and the address of the website that belongs to the commenter. The comments were nondescript and could be used on any website. Here are some of the comments, “Great website. I always read it. I really enjoy your blog. I wish more blogs were like yours.” I suspect there is a program out there that first collects the addresses to the comments section of a blog. The application contains many stock phrases. It then automatically plugs them into a comment. It completely automates the spam they are producing.

You get spam in your email accounts all the time. The same is true for any blog. The two addresses contained in the 55 pieces spam this morning were all about selling things like masks and sanitizing agents. I imagine the market for selling products related to COVID-19 is enormous and the competition is fierce. The spammers this morning were trying to drive more people to their websites by increasing their position within search engine results. I wish I didn’t have to approve every comment, but if I didn’t, my blog site comments section would quickly be loaded with junk.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions either using the contact button or the comments section below every post. I love those, but I hate spam!

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
