I have completed a new novel, a mystery novel. Actually, it’s a romance wrapped in a mystery. It is set in the fictional northern Minnesota town of Burr Oak. The year is 1965.
Our hero, Nels Eriksen, has come back to his hometown after being hurt in an accident while working in Europe. Things have changed. Someone is taking photos of naked children and then to avoid discovery is killing. Our hero’s high school sweetheart, a Native American, has come home for a family funeral. Nels is astounded to find she has become an “exotic escort,” a whore, in a big city because there was no future in their hometown for her. He also finds himself falling in love with the childhood friend who was recently divorced. His hometown has changed!
