It is a typical January morning here in Minnesota. The current temperature is -25°F or -32°C. There is no slowdown in our usual activities. Every car has what’s called a block heater. You plug it in the night before, and your car starts easily. This time year you see cars with a plug sticking out from under the hood. If you’re lucky like I am, you have a heated garage. That means it doesn’t fall below 0°F or -18°C. Yes, you probably wouldn’t want to use our garage as an extra bedroom. Because I can no longer do it, we hired someone to shovel off the roof and deck. He is a little over 6 feet tall and the snow on the level was up to his waist. That showed me we really needed to have the snow taken off the roof. The easy way to do that is what we call a snow rake. Here’s a picture of one. It looks like it would be an easy task, but it is not for two reasons. He was wading through waist-deep snow. That takes a lot of work, but it’s hard to use snowshoes and a snow rake at the same time. The other reason it’s not easy is the amount of snow we’ve had. It took him almost 3 hours to clean our roof. The house has approximately 1500 ft.², so it’s not all that large. Anyway, that’s January in northern Minnesota. Wish you were here!

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
