What is love?

What is love?

Sharing is caring!

After my last post, I got an email with a one-sentence question in it – “What is love?” It was simply signed “Sue.” Sue did not define what type of love she was asking about. I assume she was asking about the love between two people driven by one of our primal instincts. It is primal because it ensures the continuation of our species. The most appropriate definition would then be “to feel a deep romantic and/or sexual attachment to someone.” This definition does not really explain this type of love. I am not sure it can be done in less than an 800-page tome. If you’ve ever been in love, you know what it is and what it feels like. However, you probably can’t explain it. It encompasses so many feelings, attitudes, and actions that it’s only the totality of all those things that make this type of love into love. Let me comment on just one aspect of this type of love and leave the rest up to you. For the person you love, you will sacrifice anything for them. What is the one-sentence aspect you think of for this type of love?

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
