Sometimes nights I would swear a giant just hit the house because of a loud thud. This really doesn’t happen until the temperatures start to drop and the house doesn’t make these noises until the temperature is below zero. They become more frequent as the temperature drops below -20 to -40. After an extended time with low temperatures like those, the noises stop. It really isn’t a giant out there hitting the house. It is simply the house reacting to the cold temperatures and contracting. Sometimes understanding something takes all the fun out of it. It’s much more fun to thinking a giant is out there banging on the house.
