It’s been very difficult to work on the double the past few days. As you work out a novel, as I have said before the characters come alive and when they do something that is wrong that is going to hurt them in numerous ways it is difficult to write about that. First, I want the writing to accurately portray what/why a character making an error and why they might do it. Second, I actually feel sorry for the character. It is the first difficulty of trying to do the very best writing I can that slows me down. That means I must spend more time with the character that I’m beginning to feel sorry for and it seems to go on in an endless loop until I move on to another part of the novel.
