Perfectly logical slogan

Sharing is caring!

As a writer, I am interested in words and phrases and also how they came into being. President Trump’s campaign phrase “Make America great again,” has a long history extending back to the 1920s from what I have been able to research. Regardless of its history it had to resonate with President Trump. He was born in 1947. After World War II, the US was the only surviving power that had not devastated by the war. Europe was essentially in ruins and US stepped in with the Marshall Plan. China was trying to recover from a civil war. Even the countries behind the Iron Curtain were trying to recover from the war. I’m sure President Trump saw the leadership the US was providing and how things were booming – think of the baby boom. Looking back, I’m sure it seemed like a very comfortable time because in his youth President Trump would not seen the problems around him. No child would. It would appear to have been a great time to return to for that comfort. I think it’s perfectly logical slogan for someone born in 1947. Let me end by saying that I am not attempting to say anything about the history of the phrase as used by many groups or even another president, Reagan.
