One less vote

One less vote

Sharing is caring!

The election is over… No, they are still counting. They won’t be counting my vote. I got a call the day of the election telling me that my mail-in ballot was rejected because I was not a registered voter. They apparently went through the voter list and “purged” the list of all ineligible voters. Minnesota law allows you to register and vote on the same day. When I asked how long it would take, it was clear that my disability wouldn’t let me do that. That’s the reason I chose a mail-in ballot in the first place.

I thought it was great that the county auditor’s office would call and tell me that I could still vote. I have to thank them for that, but I don’t understand how I became an ineligible voter. From what I was told in the telephone call, I was ineligible because I was likely to vote for the wrong party!?! Maybe it is because I am a 100% disabled veteran, that I don’t know enough to choose the right party. It’s sad and I’m confused.

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
