Want a bit of fun? Careful!

Sharing is caring!

Want a bit of fun? Let’s just create a character for the fun of it. He or she is not going to be in anything we write. They will only be alive for the brief moment when we create them. Ready? First, what sex are they going to be? It’s probably best to stick with the character that is the same sex you are. Let’s face it, who have plenty of experiences with your sex. Plus, we want to keep it fun. Let’s not complicate things and simply name them A.

What age do you want to make A? You can have a lot of fun here. Do you want to go back to your teenage years with all the experiences of your life? Think of the havoc you could create in your high school. Or maybe want to turn it around and have A much older than you are now. How about making A extremely successful? Or perhaps you have imagined A as someone you thoroughly dislike. Here’s your chance to torture them! Just think of all the possibilities. They could have a horrible chronic disease that renders their physical features disgusting and involves lots of suffering. Do they even have any friends left?

What job shall you give them? How about the fighter pilot who always dreamed of? No, how about the kindly teacher that every student remembers? If you dislike them, how about making them a psychotic killer that everyone hates?

Let’s turn to physical features. Have you ever wanted to be taller or perhaps a few pounds lighter? If they’re going to be your superhero, how handsome or sexy should they be? What job are you going to give them?

Wasn’t that fun? That’s how writing starts out. It’s daydreaming about someone you loved to be or, on the other hand, daydreaming the torture of someone you dislike. Your characters may come alive. Then disaster strikes, your character has come alive and refuses to do what you want.

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
