Sharing is caring!
It has been a busy week so far. On Monday, I had my annual physical. On Tuesday, I had to go back because they gave out Covid booster shots. This morning, I had the home health aide here for my shower. No matter what you may have heard about the VA, they have always treated me with respect and given me every bit of help I could use. Anyway, I have neglected the blog because of the other demands on my time.
I am a fan of Dove chocolates. They have a saying on the inside of every wrapper. They usually credit whoever came up with the saying. I found an expression the other day that I would like to share with you, “Everyone has a happy ending. If you’re not happy, it’s not the end.” This one had no accreditation as to who came up with it or where it came from. It took me a while before the saying penetrated my thick skull. When it finally did, I really appreciated what it was saying.
There have been times in my life when I wasn’t happy, but further, down the line, I was happy. People asked me how I could I can be happy with my level of disability. I have found it easy. I am alive. Numerous people I trained with and who were my friends came home in a casket. At the VA hospitals, I have met people who are missing limbs or burned so severely that they no longer look human. I have also met people who look like they have nothing wrong with them. There was a young man I met who went to jump into a bunker during the attack. He didn’t see the metal stake and ended up castrating himself. I am so much better physically and mentally than those people. I can be happy right now.
