Sharing is caring!
One thing about writing is there are many possibilities and there are times in which you do not know which possibility to commit to paper. For instance, years ago a man reached out to a woman to help her with no more thought than one friend helping another. He thought he had helped her and at the end of his attempt, she told him of an old friend of hers she was renewing her relationship with. The problem was at least from his perspective she had started to become more than just a friend to him. He did not believe that at the time she was aware of his feelings. He thought the best way to protect himself and possibly her was to end the relationship.
Fast-forward a few years and his perspective and situations have changed and he would like to renew his friendship. Do you think it’s possible? Why or why not? Perhaps you need a bit more information. They are in the same circle of friends and they might exchange a Merry Christmas or happy birthday. Beyond that, he doesn’t know if she is single or in a committed relationship. Here’s another possibility – since they are in the same circle of friends should he ask about her. There’s a danger in that because some might tell her of his questioning.
His story will continue no matter what you tell him to do. It will not change the outcome of the story. It might let the reader of the story of a bit more about him, but that’s the extent of how it might move the story. Helping out his dilemma.
