I received this short comment by email, “Tough way to begin a novel.” There was no signature and the email address appears not to work because my reply was bounced back to me because of a full mailbox. Whoever you are, I will answer you here. I would like it if life were all sunshine and roses, but it’s not. The events of our lives be they indifferent, good, or horrible shape our lives. I write fiction, but I hope it illustrates and reflects the truth. In this first chapter, you met a number of young people. They are dating and thinking of the future, but at this time in the history of this country [I am assuming you live in the United States.] all of the males are subject to the draft. It means they must limit their choices. It seems that Wally and Sandi are likely to marry and we learn that Billy and Diana will never marry because of a horrendous event. Unfortunately, no couple or even individual’s life paths can remain unchanged by such an event. I hope you will continue to read find out not only what their lives will be but also others in this first chapter.
