Do you remember yesterday’s post? Where I asked why someone would ask why when being told another person was in love with them? I think most of the answers would be about something that happened to that person in their past. As a writer, I could jot down a list of possibilities. They might be things such as an ex-lover who lied to one in love with the feeling of love and not the person. I am sure there are many reasons for that person asking the “why question.” Perhaps as a writer, I don’t need to answer the question. I could simply use the incident to make the recipient of the question more likely to hesitate to ever say, “I love you,” again. You can see how that could add complexity to a love story;i.e., will they declare their love for someone before they lose them?
People ask, how do you come up with stories? They’ll begin with a session of daydreaming. Daydreaming usually starts with something I’ve seen or heard. This morning on the television news, there was a story about a lawyer in South Carolina whose wife and son had been murdered. He had been shot but survived. Now his law firm was accusing him of mismanagement of funds as he was going into rehab. These facts would be a great place to start a mystery novel. See how easy it is to find a story even as you eat breakfast?
