Wildfires in Western Ontario

Sharing is caring!

On Tuesday, I wrote a short poem about what the wildfires in Western Ontario are doing for us here in northern Minnesota. The situation is worse today. You can see the smoke in the air and even smell the burning forest. A little geography might help. If you look at a map of Minnesota, you will see on the northern edge of the state, there is a little projection into Canada. It is called the Angle by the residents who live there, but its official name is the Northwest Angle. It is the only part of the United States that extends north of the 49th parallel. The fires are located almost directly north of that part of Minnesota by several hundred miles. They are what I would call enormous in size. I could not find their size, and even if I could, their size would be stated in hectares, not acres. Canada uses the metric system of measurements.

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
