Do you want to feel me?

Do you want to feel me?

Sharing is caring!

It’s been over a year now with the virus and being locked down. If we see our friends, it’s been at a distance or through Zoom. Other than that, it’s phone calls and emails. I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to having a time together with friends. I got an email the other day with the subject line, “Do you want to pet me?” That’s become a humorous subject line or greeting when we get together.

The email was from a female friend. It was close to 20 years ago when I first said something like, “Can I pet you?” She was wearing a brown sweater. It looked fuzzy to me. She said, “You have to feel this. It’s amazing.” I have never felt anything so soft. She said it was also great at keeping her warm. I don’t think I ever asked what the material was, but the only thing I can think of that’s that soft and warm is mink. She would wear it occasionally when I’d see her. I never missed a chance to ask if I could feel the sweater.

My request became humorous after a near disaster. I saw her in the local café with friends. We greeted each other, and she asked, “Do you want to feel me?” I could see that as soon as that phrase came out of her mouth, she knew it was rather inappropriate. I guess I was feeling rather mischievous that day and said, “No, I’d rather pet you.” The people around the table were unsure what to make of her question and my reply.

She explained about her sweater. I confirmed it’s great feel. Then everyone around the table had to feel the sweater. I don’t see many sweaters that look fuzzy like that one. When I do, I am tempted to ask about how it feels. I have never seen a man wearing a sweater made with that material. I just realized I have no idea what it might be. I don’t know if it’s a man-made fiber or a natural one. If you have a guess what it might be, let me know. Anyway, the phrase, “Do you want to pet me,” has become a joke between us ever since then encounter. Hopefully, we can use it again soon. I’m tired of the virus.
