How much of a mutt we all are

I think most of us would be called mutts. I don’t remember when I started, but out of curiosity, I signed up for https://www.ancestry.com. One of their features is they can tell from your DNA where you came from in the world. Most of my background DNA-wise is from northern Europe and Great Britain. That makes sense because my grandfather on my mother’s side of the family’s grandparents were from Sweden. My grandmother’s parents were from Germany. In tracing my surname, I found that I had an ancestor who came over with Roger Williams, who founded the Rhode Island colony. My ancestor was either an indentured servant or a true servant of Roger Williams. My ancestor’s father was a fishmonger in London. I do have 12% Native American DNA in my background. It is unclear how it came into our bloodline. It had to have been one of my great grandparents that contributed that DNA. I have tried unsuccessfully to find its origin.

I found it interesting to use Ancestry, and the expense wasn’t all that great. It can be if you want to sign up for all of their services. I stayed pretty basic. If you’re going to explore how much of a mutt you are, give it a try.

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
