Yesterday was an exciting day. I got a new brace for my left leg. The combination of my spinal injury and a compound fracture has made that leg unstable. I will be able to move around a bit more easily. I will have a limited time that I will be able to stand. Why is a long story, but the physical therapy people have timed my ability to stand to be approximately four minutes. New shoes are part of the brace system as well. At first glance, they look like ordinary shoes. Do you remember the old Frankenstein movies? The new shoes look like something those Frankenstein monsters would wear. Maybe that’s appropriate. If I run down the list of man-made parts from head to toe, I am more artificial than natural – Grin! I can’t complain. There is much that I can no longer do, but I prefer to focus on what I can do.

Happy you got an orthotic to help with you ADL’s. Are you going to therapy to learn how to lengthen your standing time? Good luck and hope to hear you are up to at least 10 minutes!
what happens at the four-minute mark is that my legs begin to go numb and If I ignore that fact they no longer hold me up.
What fantastic attitude you have. I love the way you always manage to see past the initial problem and highlight the benefit. New shoes, I hope they are comfortable. You may not realise most of us, perhaps don’t even “stand” for four minutes either. Your positivity always comes through the best highlight.
Thank you.
