fall pic – slow to load

Sharing is caring!

I am sorry if this post loaded slowly for you. I wanted to get in the full beauty of the fall colors here. It was windy when I took this photo, and the leaves were quickly disappearing. This picture was taken of an area across the road from our front door. Most of the trees you see are Poplar. There are over two dozen species. The one bright red tree you see in the background is a young Sugar Maple, Acer saccharum. The area was cut over approximately 50 years ago because that’s the lifespan of a Poplar. The area to the left of the photograph has many dead Poplar’s. Some are still standing, and others have already blown over. The large tree that still green in the center of the photo is a Paper Birch, Betula papyrifera. Near the right edge of the photo, you will see a small green tree. It is a Burr Oak, Quercus macrocarpa. It will long outlive the fast-growing Poplars. In the area of the dead Poplars, there are one or two evergreens that will take 100 years or more to mature.

  1. Wow that is amazing. I remember some of those tree names in a book or story your wrote. I wish you blog had a like button, then you could tell if someone had read your work.

    1. WordPress does not offer me many ways to let people share the blog. There are four icons at the start of each blog and they also appear on the left side of the blog. the ones on the left side of the blog always will be there as you scroll down the blog. They offer you the chance to share on Facebook or Twitter. Or you can email the blog to someone. The fourth icon allows you to print them blog. WordPress is a great way to avoid all the programming that’s necessary to build a website, but one of the weak spots is the ability for a reader to share the blog with everyone.

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
