Wild rice harvesting

A few weeks ago, I was talking about the approach of fall and posted a couple of addresses to videos with wild rice to harvesting in them. I found another video that was made on Leech Lake Reservation earlier this year. Leech Lake itself is a rather large lake. It’s very close to where we live. The video below shows how they pole a canoe through the areas where rice is growing. The other person in the canoe, the beater, is well illustrated. At the end of the video, the narrator says a prophecy is to come to the land where the food grows on water. The Anishinaabe here originally came from further east. As the Europeans settled the East Coast, tribes were forced to move west, pushing the Anishinaabe west ahead of them. That is the source of the prophecy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXW6G-Ylh1w

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
