A few weeks ago, I was talking about the approach of fall and posted a couple of addresses to videos with wild rice to harvesting in them. I found another video that was made on Leech Lake Reservation earlier this year. Leech Lake itself is a rather large lake. It’s very close to where we live. The video below shows how they pole a canoe through the areas where rice is growing. The other person in the canoe, the beater, is well illustrated. At the end of the video, the narrator says a prophecy is to come to the land where the food grows on water. The Anishinaabe here originally came from further east.
