“Fear does not stop death, it stops life.”

“Fear does not stop death, it stops life.”

Sharing is caring!

“Fear does not stop death, it stops life.” I have seen it in various places and always in quotation marks, but I could not locate the author. If you know who the author is, I would appreciate you sharing who with me. In this time of COVID-19, this quotation is appropriate. The news media is all too happy to share with us how many people have had the disease and also how many it has killed. They also seem to be glad to share with us the horrifying results of people who got sick and are still alive but suffering horrendous aftereffects. I think they are genuinely trying to keep us informed. It’s how we react to that information that’s important to us.

Virtually everything we do has a risk of death or injury. Let’s take stepping out of your door. You might trip over the threshold on your way out. How about going out for an on a nice drive. You might be involved in an accident. How about flying up to your favorite vacation destination. The plane might be involved in an accident. The point here is every day, and in almost every action there is risk involved. We don’t stop because we are afraid of those fears, we continue on our lives.

COVID-19 has been another risk added to our lives. We need to treat it like the other risks in our lives. We watch ourselves going out the door, so we don’t trip. We are careful with our driving and wear a seatbelt. We also fasten our seatbelts when flying. In other words, you do reasonable things to reduce the risk, but you go on living. In the case of the virus, we can wear facemasks when we are in public and wash our hands or carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer. The important thing is that we continue to live our lives and not let the fear of COVID-19 stop our lives.

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
