Which is morally correct – religion or law?

Sharing is caring!

In my last blog, I asked if a soldier was morally right or wrong in doing his job. Everyone seemed to agree it was a difficult question. A few veterans sent me emails. The majority of them while they were doing it, they felt it was morally correct. Upon reflection, some after many years had their doubts about their morality. Others felt they absolutely had made the right moral choice.

Why is it so difficult to answer the question I asked? Christianity has an absolute prohibition against killing. That is echoed in almost every religion. The easy way for a soldier to solve that is the expression “it was my job.” We seem to recognize that outside of any religion most country’s laws recognizes self-defense as acceptable. The fact that religion and law disagree is an interesting dichotomy.

I have been trying to avoid or current health problems. The question I have today is also tricky and requires much thought. Which is morally correct – religion or law?

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
