This first post is a continuation of the Who I am page. After my family died, I had no idea what to do next only what I didn’t want to do next – pursue my business administration degree. The job I had taken at the University of Pennsylvania Moore School of Electrical Engineering turned out to be a blessing. I loved electronics and it was my hobby. It still is and I enjoy amateur radio. My current call letters are KCØEM. The University had acquired an old Nike missile base not far from Valley Forge historical Park and turned it into a research center. I actually lived in one of the old military buildings that had been converted into a very nice home. I knew however the University planned to hold the old missile site for a number of years to meet their agreement with the government and then sell it. This was the late 1960s and homes in the area surrounding the two parts of the base were then selling for a million dollars or more. Between the two parts of the old base there was just less than 40 acres of land. Even with the existing buildings and the missile silos, there was a sizable amount of money to be made when the land was sold. This is a bit technical but the University had a quit claim deed to the property and that would be converted to a warranty deed after they met their obligation under the original agreement with the government. A quit claim deed is very interesting. All it says is that the seller will agrees to sell you all his or her “rights” to the real estate. In other words, I could sell you all my rights to New York City if you were foolish enough to pay me for nothing! Grin. The title of a warranty deed sounds good and it is.

My mother-in-law started to push me towards looking for another wife. She said that a young man needs a woman in his life. Joining the dating world again was a bit of a shock as many things had changed, but I will save that story for my another posting in the life events category.

  1. It was pointed out that I may have left people wondering what happened to my family. My first wife died in childbirth along with the baby. Medically what happened was she had a congenital defect of a major blood vessel in her brain and as I understand it, her blood pressure went up as it normally does during childbirth and the blood vessel burst. She had a stroke in other words. As she struggled to live, there wasn’t sufficient oxygen reaching the baby and she died too.

” I am a writer and as a writer, I do not neatly fit into any category. I have written magazine articles, feature news articles, restaurant reviews, a newspaper column, and several book length nonfiction projects aimed at people interested in particular health problems for foundations and companies. As to novels, I have published some Kindle novels.”
